A Harmony of Faith

The Bible tells me over and over again to praise the Lord, never mind what’s happening. —Elisabeth Elliot

It’s challenging to praise and never mind what’s happening when we’re going through tests and trials of every kind. But that’s when God develops the harmony. He’s building a song of praise in us that can’t be silenced in any storm—and it’s the most beautiful one He hears.

A four-part harmony is considered the most technically challenging. We can choose to see our troubles as God’s way of teaching us a four-part harmony of faith: trust, hope, peace and joy. Once perfected, God’s work in us becomes a life so resonant with His love and goodness that it can’t be ignored…and so extraordinarily sound, that the world knows it’s heaven-sent.

Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Psalm 146:2
