Annuit coeptis, meaning “God has favored our undertakings.”  -INSCRIPTION ON THE U.S. CAPITOL BUILDING ABOVE THE SENATE EAST ENTRANCE

When our congressional leaders walk into the U.S. Capitol, the words engraved on the building serve as a reminder, and in a sense, they are a silent prayer for all to see. While the inscription may go unnoticed by those who walk beneath it daily, God is active, watching our undertakings as a nation, and His favor follows the faithful. We can pray just as King David did, “I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word” (Psalm 119:58).

PRAY

Father, be merciful to our congressional leaders; transform hearts of stone to hearts of flesh so they are tender to Your word. Provide wisdom, clarity, and protection for each individual and their families. Open each person’s eyes to understanding and bless our nation with Your favor and goodness through humility and obedience. Amen.
