God is truly wonderful. His sending the Holy Spirit to us is a gift we can never take for granted. Having a comforter in our corner at all times is no small thing in a world growing colder every day. We couldn’t serve God with strength, confidence, or consistency without Him. He’s our get-up-again when we’re knocked down by the pressures of this life. He’s our don’t-give-up when we’re at our weakest. He’s the one filling our thoughts with the life-giving, soul-encouraging Word of God when we feel unable to put our brokenness into prayer. Why do we lean on Him and learn these truths about Him? So we can draw near to God, receive encouragement, and offer the same encouragement to others. We can say with authority, “God will never give up on you; you can’t hide from God’s love for you; and you are infinitely valuable in the eyes of an infallible God. What a wonderful God we have–he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
