Humility is a good thing.

It’s humbling to remember the way we were before surrendering to our ‘new nature’—and humility is a good thing. When the Holy Spirit moved in and brought the power of God with Him, our old nature was no longer welcome. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Some of our unwelcome traits and habits left at once, some wanted to stick around, and some fell away as our relationship with the Holy Spirit matured. The war between our spirit and flesh ensued when we gave our life to Jesus Christ, and the battle will be ongoing until we leave this earth. One of the blessings of the Holy Spirit’s ministry to us is echoing the words of our Savior while He was here: “With God all things are possible”; “Do not be afraid, only believe.”; “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Nothing apart from a life lived for Jesus can bring the security and contagious joy found in the Holy Spirit. When we anchor our spiritual well-being in His guidance, we remember how helpless we are without Him—and we rejoice in the assurance that we never have to.

You are controlled by your new nature if you have the Spirit of God living in you. Romans 8:9
