Love is the crucial framework.

Jun 11, 2026

The motivation for every decision, desire, or deed directed by the Holy Spirit is love. Jesus tells us that every commandment from God hangs on the first two: love God and love your neighbor. The guidance of the Holy Spirit will never deviate from the definition of love. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). These verses could serve as an instruction booklet for following the Holy Spirit. The choices He makes for us will accomplish the most good for the most amount of people—because that’s what love does. Love is the crucial framework for serving God in whatever we do, wherever we go, and for the good of whoever we meet. Loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind is the starting line. We need time in prayer and the Word to prepare for any love-powered thing we do—which is everything we do for the glory of God.

Jesus replied, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second most important is similar: Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39

For You are the Fountain of life; our light is from Your light. Pour out Your unfailing love on those who know You! Never stop giving Your blessings to those who long to do Your will. Psalm 36:9-10

Reflection:

God’s love is a floodlight in this world. It illuminates every act the Holy Spirit directs, and every deed done for the glory of God. We are blessed to be a small part of the warmth it creates and the impact it makes.
