There’s something special about a walk through the neighborhood in wintertime, especially around the holidays. Homes are warmly lit, trees are adorned, and you can almost feel the coziness inviting you to pause and take it all in. Peace comes with light, because light dispels darkness—and in no greater way than through Jesus, the Light of the world. Physical lights can remind us how important it is to keep our spiritual light burning for all to see. The light we bear through our Savior can’t be extinguished. We shine to reflect Him and reveal His love to everyone around us. The way we live should give others the feeling of being openly invited into the warmth of God’s love and grace. We should be the light that’s kept on in the middle of the night, when lost and hurting hearts come home to Him.
Every kindness we show creates a spark. Every time we tell someone exactly what they need to hear, hope is illuminated. Every face we smile into, every eye we meet with compassion, every hug we offer, ignites the light of Jesus. Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:15-16) Invite the people in your life into the glow of God’s love. Make your home and even your presence a warm shelter for those who are worn out, worried, or stressed. All the little things we do matter in ways only God can fully know, having a window into every heart and soul on earth. (taken from Cozy Moments to Calm Your Heart)
His life is the light that shines through the darkness—and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:5
