Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94:19
A quiet spot, a soft chair, and a good nap. Sometimes the sweetest rest is stolen at unplanned times, when our heart is in turmoil and our mind is exhausted. Give yourself this luxury when you can. God will let you know, through the body He created, when it’s time to rest. So often it feels impossible to do, but like so many other simple, highly beneficial practices, our overcrowded minds talk us out of giving ourselves the kind, gentle care we need. All that God is, is always what we need. There isn’t anything or anyone else that can restore us to a state of well-being like God can. He doesn’t try to make it elusive or difficult to figure out. If we’re making it through our days prayerfully, He’ll speak to our heart plainly. He knows us better than we know ourselves, and the quietness, hope, and restoration He gives is priceless.
Solitude with God repairs the damage done by the fret and noise and clamour of the world. —Oswald Chambers
