Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined….” Matthew 12:25
Jesus wasn’t talking about having differing opinions, different ideas, or disagreements. He was talking about good versus evil. He healed a man from the destruction of the enemy and the religious leaders thought He must be a demon to be able to do it. Why would evil go after itself? It won’t—because our enemy knows he can’t win that way. Goodness driven by the love of God has the power to overcome the works of the enemy, and it’s the only thing that will.
Over time, hatred projected becomes evil plotted, which eventually provokes horrific actions. Love has the same trajectory with the opposite outcome. Love decided upon becomes kindness acted upon, which eventually empties evil of its power. Darkness is empowered by deception. Light is empowered by love.
Love is the reason we’re here, the beacon of hope, and the path to change. There’s no place for hatred in our United States. It’s inciting our real enemy and dividing our beloved country.
If I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2
