There’s no sweeter rest than the rest God gives. It’s free of worry and full of peace. It’s like sinking into our favorite chair, or hiding away in a quiet place with a cup of tea, separate from everything that pulls us this way and that—to do more, to be more. God is our perfect resting place, and He’s here for us anytime, day or night. When we need rest, He is the One to seek. He expects nothing, demands nothing, and gives everything our heart, body, and soul needs. God knows how important it is for us, both physically and spiritually, to simply rest. 

Over time this world has made us feel like rest is for those who aren’t the go-getters, the great achievers, the ones who are successful in everything they do. But true success comes with a balance. God wants us to rest in Him because that’s the best time to listen to Him. It’s the best time to feel strengthened, encouraged, and restored by His love. Taking time to rest is a good time to reflect. We think about God’s faithfulness to us throughout our lives. We remember times He came through when it looked like hope was gone and there was no clear answer. God is always our answer. God is always our hope. God is always the One assuring us that waiting patiently on Him to act is not being complacent, it’s being confident. What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. (Hebrews 11:1)
