Often the inn that had no room for Joseph and Mary is likened to the human heart that allows no room for our Savior. Where no welcome is given, salvation does not enter. With the human heart, God is not demanding, He is patient and long-suffering. With the lost, Jesus is not harsh, He is meek and lowly in heart. With the questioning soul, the Holy Spirit is not quarrelsome—He is gentle and gracious.
God created us in His image, but He gave us a free will. He could have made us ‘robotically’ good, but He did not. We choose to love God. We decide to accept Jesus, His only Son, as the perfect sacrifice for our sin. We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit—and realize he’s the power that enables us to reflect the image of God. Our lives are marked by love. Our lives are guided by peace. And our lives are filled with the hope bestowed by heaven, born in a manger, bonded on a cross, and secured by the beauty of an empty tomb.
She brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7
